SOCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR TUBERCULOSIS PATIENTS


SOCIAL WORKER CAN PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING ASSISTANCE:

  • Assistance in obtaining  identity documents (birth certificate, passport, personal identity number etc.);
  • Assistance in preparing documents for the local government social services;
  • Assistance in registering with a family doctor;
  • Assistance in establishing and maintaining contact with the authorities, municipality, non-governmental organizations.


SOCIAL WORKER WILL PROVIDE INFORMATION ON:

  • Social rights;
  • Possible social assistance;
  • Social services;
  • Nursing homes;
  • Shelters;
  • Social homes;
  • State social security options;
  • Psychosocial support - support and self-help groups;
  • Soup kitchen services;
  • Opportunities of free medical care;


SOCIAL ASSISTANCE RECEIPT OPPORTUNITIES DURING THE OUTPATIENT TREATMENT OF TB  IN LATVIA:

  • Social assistance possibilities for each TB patient in all regions of Latvia, are evaluated  individually, taking into consideration possibilities of the specific municipality.


SOCIAL ASSISTANCE RECEIPT OPPORTUNITIES DURING THE OUTPATIENT TREATMENT OF TB IN RIGA:

  • All TB patients who arrive to take the prescribed medicine, are entitled to receive Riga City Council's social support to TB patients.


There is a social worker available at the s/a "Infectology Centre of Latvia" Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Clinic and its ambulatory department and branch to assist in resolving social problems.
